Hi All I used the EFI from the beta install I had, and using the script from MaLd0n downloaded Big Sur and used that to install to a new SSD, copied the OpenCore EFI to the EFI partition, and it works. Issues. 1. The Memory configuration error comes up when starting up. I know there's a kext or efi for Catalina, but I don't know if it works with Opencore. Does it? I tried MacProMemoryNotificationDisabler.kext, but perhaps I didn't configure it properly in the config file. System specs Asus Prime X299-A i9-9960X 96 GB Ram EVGA GT710 GPU 2. Once I turned off the boot picker, and turned off verbose loading, I started getting a message OCB: StartImage failed - Already started Halting on critical error It seems that changing a configuration might cause the problem. After a few restarts is seems to work. But not sure. Attached is the config.plist. Config.plist.zip

[Guide] Install/Restore BigSur with Clover
macattackjack replied to MaLd0n's topic in Big Sur (10.16)
A general Note on how I deal with installing a new system, betas, etc, etc. 120 GB SSD's are about $25 dollars. Get three. 32 GB flash drives are about 8 dollars get a few. Once you have a working Install, and an update comes out, Clone it using Super Duper if possible. (not possible currently with Big Sur) Apply the update to the cloned drive, not your other original working install. Thus, if the update bricks the system, or otherwise doesn't something nasty, you don't have another 4 hours trying to get back to your working system. Alternate between two SSD's until the final version comes out and you're system is completely set. The third SSD is for when there's something else you want to try, and you have two iffy installs, and don't want to risk either. -

Big Sur Installer quits at 12 minute mark

You mean, install the OC EFI to match my CPU and Motherboard? The Asus Prime X299-A isn't like other x299's. The only OpenCore EFI that works with the installer is the one I post above, and it works with your BS "easy way" image until the end of the verbose system booting. Then the screen goes black and nothing happens. I've tried comparing the one that's booting to your, and I don't see much difference between the config files, except for the SSDT files Kind of frustrated now. -
Big Sur Installer quits at 12 minute mark

Now, OC boot loader shows only Preboot as an booting option. If I chose that, it boots, verbose loading gets to end, then screen goes black. Trying to restart, the bios freezes and I have to start the bios in safe mode. I think it's trying to restart, but it's still not shutting down correctly, and doesn't allow my 10.13.6 system to shutdown either until I reset NVRAM. Is the easy way a completed system, or still an installer? -

Yeah, the other way, the installer creates the installer image on the new drive, but then when it reboots and starts to actually install the system, it quits after a couple of minutes. -

Yes. It doesn't seem to work. I just checked now, and mounted the SSD I am trying to install to, and it shows the Mac OS based system, is written to the SSD (about 14 GB), but If I try to boot in OC from SSD, it will again start installing and then quit at 12 minute mark, will not restart, and require I press the restart button on the Motherboard to restart the computer. Okay, did something differnent. I used the "install Mac OS" app on your big sur image, while in a working 10.13.6 system, and it did the same thing, it restarted after a few minutes, however this time, it rebooted and showed the "install Mac OS (external) in OC. I selected that, and now it's showing 29 minutes. I'll let you know if this completes. -
I found an OC EFI from hackintosher with the same x299 mb as mine that boots the BS Beta 4 on my Asus Prime X299-A Mobo, i7-9800X, EVGA GT710 GPU.Installer comes up, all good. Starts installing. Then quits at the 12 minute mark, and I get this screen. Not only does the computer not restart without hitting the reset button on the motherboard, but it keeps other OS on a different drive from restarting until I reset the NVRAM.I tried a few variations on the config list, but as I am new to OC, I don't want to poke around without knowing what I'm doing. But it seems to me a bunch of services aren't working properly. Also, VooDooTSCSync, was an old version that requires setting the threat count. The current version, that auto reads it, works fine.Attached is a pic of my EFI files, the config file, and a picture of what the verbose logging says when trying to shut downAny thoughts? [Guide] Install/Restore BigSur with Clover
macattackjack replied to MaLd0n's topic in Big Sur (10.16)
I finally got the Beta 4 image, and it still does not boot on the Asus X299 Prime-A, i7-9800X, EVGA GT710. It freezes after PCI begin, or apfsload, depending on what kexts. I replaced the kexts in the image with newer ones or ones that I know work with this motherboard for Catalina. Nothing helped. Has anyone gotten it to work with a X299 chipset? -
I've been trying to download the Beta 4 BS image for about 2 weeks and keep getting the "too many people have viewed this file" error that won't let me download it. Do you have it downloadable from any other location? Thanks

P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3 2700K and Catalina
macattackjack replied to macattackjack's topic in Catalina (10.15)
Yeah, I'm remembering now. RehabMan-Generic-USB3-2015-1215 kind of works, but only if the USB port is connected to something when the system boots. Have you heard of any updates for the kext for the ASmedia 3.0 controller chip on the Z68? The Asus X79 motherboards use the ASmedia 3.1 controller chip, and the USBAllInject works great for that. -

Boots!, and everything working except USB 3.0 ports. I tried patches, EUSB to EH01, EHC2 to EH02, EHC1 to EH01, etc. in different combinations even. None worked. Put USBinjectAll back into Kexts folder, no change. -

Oh, sorry EVGA GT710 2 GB (metal) Works with all other UEFI builds 10.13 to to 10.15 -
Hi I got High Sierra 10.13.6 to work in a non UEFI build using Clover. Is there an EFI on the website that would work with this motherboard and Catalina? Right now it gets stuck at PCI Begin. I've used the Config that Clover built, your EFI for series 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and found a few others around the web. All seem stuck at PCI begin, more or less. I haven't tried Mojave yet. Thanks

macattackjack replied to MaLd0n's topic in Big Sur (10.16)
Okay. I was able to download your EFI. It is getting further, but still getting stuck. I tried changing the config file, using different drivers, or kexts, different Mac models, nothing helped. It's now stopping at IOUSBHost Interface. This Asus Prime A X299 is different than other motherboards. The EVGA X299 Micro was much easier to get working with 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15. I tried updating the bios to 3006 and it brick walled all the systems, as it couldn't even load the clover boot loader. I might try it with this new version and see what happens. If I may ask, where did you find the EFI you're using? IMG_9091.JPG.zip -

Where do you get an adblocker for a Mac? A legitimate site will have the link plus all the ad links. The link provided has no link to any files at all. The version I'm trying to get working is for Beta 2. Also, I am working with Bios version 2002. The 3000 version broke the install completely, so I went back. -

Also, the Open core EFI is getting stuck at PCI Begin as well. A while back, I forget which system, there was an issue with trying to install from a USB 3.0 port instead of a USB 2.0 port. Once the program tried to load the drivers for the file system it couldn't read the 3.0 ports. The 299X Asus Prime-A has only 3.0 ports. it's the only other thing I can think of, besides the GPU. HI Configuring OCQuirks worked for getting past +++++++ Now, if I use your config.plist it gets stuck at PCI Begin. If I use my config.plist for the Asus x299 Prime-A, (which is different than the EVGA X299 Micro) it gets stuck at apfs_module_start. I updated whatevergreen, Lilu, internetMausi, etc, to most recent versions. TSCAdjustReset.kext (no unsynchronized TSC errors by the way) removed Skylake ACPI Patch. It wasn't making any difference at this point. Nothing makes a difference with either config.plist big sur boot freeze.zip configs.zip Also, the Open core EFI is getting stuck at PCI Begin as well. Hi MaLd0n I downloaded your Big Sur beta 2 image and made a flash drive. I have tried Big sur beta 2 to boot with OC, and it freezes at PCI begin. So I tried with clover using 1. 5108 EFI that works with 10.15.6, 10.14.6, and 10.13.6. 2. 5118 Clover that works with Catalina 10.15.6 3. Your Premade Skylake EFI 4. My 5118 EFI with your efi files and my Kexts. 5. My 5118 EFI with your config file. 6. other variations I don't remember. ALL get stuck at ++++++++++++++++++++ OCQuirks efi and plist don't make any difference. i7-9800X CPU ASUS Prime-A X299 32 BG RAM EVGA GT710 GPU MSR lock disabled on motherboard. All settings on motherboard work with 10.13, 10.14 and 10.15. Any thoughts? Here's an image of when it freezes on ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ IMG_9082.JPG.zip -
Also, I tried to patch the EC according to this guide https://hackintosher.com/guides/ae_not_found-dealing-appleacpiec-catalina-hackintosh/ As it's not showing any for the AE_NOT_FOUND Errors. Patching it doesn't work, and doesn't create a patch for it.

Well, after more digging I found this. Using IORegistryExplorer, a weird result. Instead of listing each threads in sequential order, C00, C01, C03, etc... it goes from C00, C01, skips 2 and 3, then 4-9 then skips 0A-12, then 12 - 17. And It changes every boot. Also comparing to the ASUS IOReg AppleACPIPlatformExpert shows AMWO which properly identifies the Asus _UID The EVGA IOReg AppleACPIPlatformExpert shows ACPI which doesn't look right. Has anyone see this before. Asus IO Pics.zip

Also, it's a vanilla install of 10.13. I made a flash drive of your 10.13 system installer according to your instructions. The TSC error appears there too, and it also complains that VooDoo is too old, then freezes. I tried swapping it out with the x299 EFI and that didn't help. I had the same issue with an MSI board and 10.8 years ago. someone suggested the microcodes in the bios. I would rather not go there. lol

Wish I could. PCIe performance with audio card with same SSD same clover (different efi for boot) is three times worse on x299/9800X than on i7-3820 Asus Rampage IV gene. I had a 9900k and gigabyte z390 micro that had the same PCIe performance issue, using this same drive (different efi), and was told it was a L3 cache and PCIe lane issue with the cpu. I spoke with an guy this week with the same mb/cpu, and he’s not having the same problem. the 3820 clocks at 13k in geekbench. The 9800x at 30k. It should be better. is there anything else that could be causing the issue?

Also if it affects it or not, I don't remember, but MSR lock is disabled in the bios. But enabling it makes no difference. The system still boots.
