Sorry! My spec is gigabyte g31m-es2l (rev. 2.4) cpu is q9550 (sse 4.1) nvidia GT640 8Gb memory (weirdly the gigabyte official webcite says my mobo only supports 4Gb total, but it handles 8Gb well.) and with an upgrade of the 500Gb SSD it works just fine. Everything just is smooth. It's been working great until this morning that I updated the os And black screen with a mouse cursor was when I used -x option. Without it, it was just grey screen without any cursor.

This just did the magic!!!! I finally booted Mojave on my 10-year-old desktop. I'm so grateful for your resources.
