Video Guide - Hackintosh USB Port Mapping with Hackintool
AppleBytes replied to MaLd0n's topic in Installation Guides
OK I've been working on 2 ThinkPads -- 3 actually; 2 E531's and an L530. While applying this method on the L530 to make the USB ports accept USB sticks. I discovered that the battery icon up in the notification tray disappeared after reboot. But all the USB ports worked correctly. I think the battery is also controlled on/by the USB bus. Can anyone provide some more insight? Thanks for all your time, and consideration. --Chris -
Apologies in advance, should this not be the best place. But I had difficulty deciding where the best place would be. That said; for some reason, Apple decided to remove ftp, and telnet -- both the clients, and the daemons. While I suppose one could argue that the daemons could be exploited. The clients ftp(1) and telnet(1) are less dangerous than rm(1) sudo rm -rf /* So. I bring (back) to MacOS users, the ftp, and telnet clients. About I've been programming on *BSD (FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD) for almost 40 years, and that's the OS I created these on for this release. They are 100% native to MacOS High Sierra or above (newer). This release installs both the clients, and the man(1) pages. These are the "full featured" versions. Which includes tab completion, and other conveniences, unlike the GNU counterparts. Installation To install from this archive. Open Terminal and change to the directory where you downloaded this archive. Then perform the following: sudo unzip ./FTP-TELNET.zip sudo rm ./FTP-TELNET.zip sudo cp ./FTP-TELNET.txz / cd / sudo tar xvf ./FTP-TELNET.txz && rm ./FTP-TELNET.txz You're done. Enjoy! P.S. Sorry for the extra commands for the zip wrapper. But in order to preserve the correct permissions on all the files involved, I needed to use tar(1) to create the archive. But this Forum doesn't support tar archived attachments. FTP-TELNET.zip

@MaLd0n Thanks very much for taking the time to do this! Doing it this way didn't work for me (on Mojave). BUT I was able to make it work by putting ATH9KInjector.kext, IO80211Family_ATH.kext, and AR9462 in /EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other/ and rebooting. Just thought I'd mention it in case others ran into a problem.

Install MacOS with Vanilla Olarila Image, Step by Step
AppleBytes replied to MaLd0n's topic in Installation Guides
Thank you for the reply, MaLd0n! Yes. I use the -v switch, and much text scrolls by. The text mode stops shortly after it tries to use the Atheros WiFi card. Then I see the Apple with the meter under it, and a twirling beach ball. I left it that way for an hour, and 10 minutes. But nothing more, so I powered it off. I guess I'll just keep trying. Thanks again, MaLd0n! --Chris- 3,037 replies

Install MacOS with Vanilla Olarila Image, Step by Step
AppleBytes replied to MaLd0n's topic in Installation Guides
Thank you, MaLd0n. You're brilliant! I now get to the Apple with a progress meter under it, and a twirling beach ball. But the meter doesn't change, or increase. The beach ball stutters ocaisionally. So maybe it's still trying to do something? I'll give it an hour, and see if anything else happens. Thank you again, MaLd0n! --Chris- 3,037 replies

Install MacOS with Vanilla Olarila Image, Step by Step
AppleBytes replied to MaLd0n's topic in Installation Guides
Hello, I was finally able to get the Olarila Yosemite image to boot installing Clover v2k-2999 over the copy of Clover already installed to the image. I made no other changes. But I seem to be having trouble getting past my Atheros WiFi half-mini card. The boot finally stops at: ATHR: unknown locale: 60 Can anyone help? What logs or other information can I add to help? My laptop: Dell Inspiron 9400, core 2 duo @2.16Ghz, 4Gb RAM, G70 Geforce 7800 Oh, almost forgot; I used the Config2, as recommended in the instructions for the Yosemite image. Thank you for everything. --Chris- 3,037 replies

Install MacOS with Vanilla Olarila Image, Step by Step
AppleBytes replied to MaLd0n's topic in Installation Guides
I am attempting to use the Olarila Yosemite USB image to install Yosemite on my Insprion 9400: Core 2 duo @2.16Ghz 4GB RAM g70 Geforce 7800 (256Mb) But all I ever see is: Welcome to Clover 4559 ... testing hardware ... If I touch the O key. The options do not look like the pictures in the instructions. I don't think Clover works on my hardware. I think it thinks I have a (U)EFI BIOS? I would really like to use your USB image. How can I make this work? EDIT: I have downloaded the CLOVER.LGA775.zip. I then performed the following: # sudo tar xvf ./CLOVER.LGA775.zip # sudo rm -r ./_MACOSX/ # sudo tar cvf ../LGA775.tar . # sudo mkdir /Volumes/EFI # sudo mount_msdos /dev/disk1s1 /Volumes/EFI/ # sudo cp ../LGA775.zip /Volumes/EFI/ # cd /Volumes/EFI/ # sudo tar xvf ./LGA775.zip && sudo rm LGA775.zip # sudo umount /Volumes/EFI/ && sudo diskutil eject /Volumes/Olarila\ Yosemite\ image So. As I understand it. I needed to replace those files for my chipset, for the Olarila Yosemite USB image to work. But after rebooting to the USB stick. I am still stuck at the same message as above. But the Clover version is different. Can anyone please advise? EDIT: OK Clover will only work on systems that have a (U)EFI BIOS. But since I have a legacy BIOS I can't use the Olarila images. Because they all appear to use Clover. Thank you for all your time, and consideration. --Chris- 3,037 replies

Common problems booting the installer
AppleBytes replied to pernacabeluda's topic in Yosemite (10.10)
Booting to the Olarila Yosemite USB Image on a system that has Lion (10.7) installed: Dell Inspiron 9400 Core 2 Duo @2.16GHz 4Gb RAM G70 Geforce 7800 All that happens is the following: Welcome to Clover 4559 ... testing hardware ... I looked at the tutorial(s) that accompany it. But the Clover modifications do not look like those in the pictures, and those options are not available. How would I best proceed? Thank you for all your time, and consideration. --Chris -
Google Drive will not permit download of any Olarila mages
AppleBytes replied to AppleBytes's topic in Mojave (10.14)
Thank you, MaLd0n! You're a saint. --Chris -
Like the title says. When attempting to download the Olarila Mountain Lion image. Google says: Sorry, you can't view or download this file at this time. Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file recently. Please try accessing the file again later. If the file you are trying to access is particularly large or is shared with many people, it may take up to 24 hours to be able to view or download the file. If you still can't access a file after 24 hours, contact your domain administrator. The same is true for Yosemite, and any other Olarila image I have been attempting to download. I have been trying for a couple hours now. Is there another (file) hosting service where these images can be obtained? If someone can give me a viable link. I can download it, and provide long term hosting for it -- we're already a Perl mirror. Thank you for all your time, and consideration. --Chris
