Hi all!
There are hardly 2 posts in the whole world wide web about a custom mac with a 1680 V2 CPU.....
and they describe incompatibility...
and i discovered it after i ordered one .. :crazy:
So now that tomorrow i will have it in my hands ... Should i try or should i just sell it and go on with my life? ?? It is said that it works fine with real mac pros 2013... but none has a workin custom mac ??
why?

Hi MaLd0n!
i know that X79 is working. I have 2 X79 builts already. A MSI and a Gigabyte. My doubts were about the CPU.
And i am afraid i am correct. Just got it and installed it. I got a panic right away.
I tried with Olarila mojave 10.14.6. Followed the guide to create the USB etc. I even tried it on my gigabyte built and it worked fine.
The only thing i can't be positive for are the bios settings on the ASUS. But i choose them carefully taking in mind my previous builts.

Here are my screens. 1st with Olarila mojave USB from etcher and second after replacing the EFI folder with the one you sent me.

UPDATE : i swapped the CPU with my old 3930k and the system booted from the preinstalled olarila mojave ssd without any issues.
swapping back to the 1680v2 give the same panic...

I booted from my olarila SSD to my main rig (GA-X79 + E5 2670)
I downloaded clover from your link
Run and installed clover on the SSD and shut down.
Plugged the SSD to the X79 Deluxe + 1680V2 system and booted
I go the same panic.....

Should i run all the procceedure from this topic [Local Link Removed for Guests] again but in STEP 7 install clover version 5036 ?
You think it will change anything?
Or should i update clover in olarila install USB?

EDIT: i am afraid that this was a fix for X299 systems from Florin9doi ...
i hope i am wrong...

it is this new PatchAPIC feature. But for some reason it doesn't work... :help
Could it need some other setting as well?

MaLd0n, could you please advise which fakecpuid to use?
I found the guy that did the fix for the X299 (Florin9doi). Turned out to be very similar but not the same. I did some changes to APIC.aml but it didn't help. My Processor Id starts from 00 as should but LocalApicID 0 is not active.
At this point it seems i could be the only guy trying to make a custom mac out of a 1680 v2.... I must succeed!!

UPDATE: I tried with 0x0306E0 FakeCPUID which seems to be the only one advised for uose on IvyBridge-EP, but with no luck. Same message
"x86_validate_topology() 16 threads but 17 registered from MADT"

Ok,
i created a new Olarila 10.14.6 USB just to be sure,
updated clover with 5050
and tried to boot.
Tried both vanilla and with PatchAPIC ticked. Panic is the same. The messages after the panic are less now...

The main difference with the X299 panic - if i am not mistaken - is that in X299 they got LocalApic Disabled. In my case it is always enabled.

I tried olarila mavericks. The panic name changed just a bit, but it helped me track this excellent guide: [External Link Removed for Guests]
So i followed the suggestions for the DSDT but it didn't work...
Then i got his DSDT as is, used it and TADAAAA!!! no more panic.
From then on it was quite an easy job

I am going to the DSDT section of this site for a check since this is natively made for 2687W V2
